Dr. Peterson grew up in Atkinson, Nebraska. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology Health Professions with a concentration in neuroscience from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. He received his Medical Doctorate at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha.
He completed his residency training in the Primary Care Program also at UNMC. As part of the Primary Care Program, he trained for 2 years each in internal medicine and family medicine. Some of his honors include the Fay Smith Award for Outstanding Performance in Family Medicine and the Top Neuroanatomy Academic paper.
Dr. Peterson specializes in the field of Family Medicine, providing care for patients of all ages. He has special interests in obstetrics, sports medicine, internal medicine, endoscopy, office procedures, intensive care, minimally invasive carpal tunnel release, flight physicals, pediatrics, prenatal care, and geriatric/nursing home care. He has participated in several influential causes including volunteering in Nicaragua; providing healthcare at underserved diabetic, STD, and free clinics; and counseling middle school students on the effects of smoking.
When Dr. Peterson is not caring for his patients, he is spending time with his wife (Danika), their daughter (Adeline), and their son (Leon) while enjoying hunting, fishing, cooking, home renovation, landscaping, fitness, woodworking, Christian studies, and aviation.
